Treat Yourself Tuesday: Get Active with [Marvelous] Bloggers

Ever since West Elm appeared, I’ve wanted their Parsons table/console. Well, on Sunday, I went to pick it up from a really nice couple.

My house is still a mess after the fumigation so here’s a picture I found online:

Afterwards, I headed to Lorna Jane in Century City to see the lovely Whitney (To Live & Diet in LA) make her vegan pumpkin waffles.

I even made them the next day for my 4-day weekend brunch.

Over at the Santa Monica Lorna Jane, GiGi was making her balls “tight tush truffles.”

I treated myself to a slice of pie (from Whole Foods) and then went home for a shower. I was exhausted and noted that I will never be living in LA. The traffic was horrific!

To top off my Sunday, I had a meeting with my gals over a fundraising event. It was my first online meeting! If you’re in the area, come join us!

Did you have a long weekend or are you at least enjoying a Tuesday off?

MIMM: Retro Weekend

Another weekend and I didn’t do homework. Um, it’s not due till the 19th and I have spring break that week. 🙂 Another reason I dislike online classes… I don’t do well with rolling deadlines. Most of it is uploading things I’ve already done though.

Let’s talk about what MARVELOUS things I did instead.

The giant Costco plastic wrap container is an eyesore so I wrapped it with liner. Much better.

I ran out of food at the end of the week. I got out early on Friday and was starving. I shared this pineapple and chicken pizza from Kech Cafe (it’s in a gas station!) with my cousins.

I made a stop by Target and spotted the Young House Love collection! I want their MARVELOUS book!

My MARVELOUS Friday night involved wine and Joy.

I ended up baking A Beautiful Mess’ matcha green tea donuts. They weren’t bad, much better in shape than the strawberry donuts I made.

On Saturday morning, I went thrifting in Long Beach. Retro Row on 4th Street is one of the most MARVELOUS destinations, reminds me of Asheville (my home of 6 years!). I didn’t end up with anything, most of it was too expensive.

Cat dresses?!

While Retro Row has some good restaurants, I wanted to try Samurai Burrito back home. The Geisha roll has crab mix instead of rice, salmon, cukes, and green onions and was MARVELOUS!

Sunday, I went to one Home Depot twice, which I don’t mind because they have some good looking employees. 🙂

I also went to three other Home Depots as well as a Lowe’s. They’re all closeby, but I was in search of succulents and cacti for the house.

My first attempt resulted in two minis and a small cacti. The minis looked so small on the mantel so I returned them.

Looks like everyone else was buying them because I couldn’t find another one till my last stop at Lowe’s! Here’s the mantel and fireplace. I need to string some lights on the “JOY” or make something more seasonally appropriate. The TV is going on above.

For lunch, I had another Geisha roll.

Snack break: new-to-me Three Happy Cows caramel yogurt.

Dinner: grilled cheese on top of my brand new placement from Ikea.

In the middle of moving, I found this MARVELOUS handmade dress. A friend gave it to me: old tank with a bottom made from old curtains!

I love it and want more vintage-y clothes!

Thinking Out Loud Thursday: Painting

Hey… it’s still Thursday. 🙂

Sorry for the lack of pictures, but I haven’t had much to snap. Here is what my life has consisted of…

1. Waking up at 5:30. Working out or pressing snooze depending on how my body feels.

2. A lot less working out, but I’m feeling fine physically. Actually, better than fine. My workouts run between 30-45 minutes if at all. A lot of my “working out” involves moving flooring, boxes, and painting.

3. Not thinking about eating. I just eat when I get hungry and boy do I get hungry.

4. Standing and talking all day. I taught writing skills, having the students argue for vegetarianism, using 3 articles I gave them. More focused than letting them go out on their own.

5. Spending 2 hours at The Home Depot. Instead of the “distressed brown hickory” laminate, I decided on “Silverhill oak,” which is also distressed but almost HALF the price. It took Matt, the very cute employee, 30 minutes to search for it.

We also got paint – vanilla custard (see below). They forgot the primer on one gallon so there was that.

Nothing got done because I spent all that time after work there.

5. Ice cream soothes my distressed body. Enlightened is so much better than Yasso

6. The next day, I ended up painting the laundry area and the space for the fridge so those pieces of furniture can go in.

7. Speaking of painting, I may or may not be going to a paint and wine night with friends. I may not go because… I don’t like the painting we’re making… There are so many better ones out there! Okay, that’s terrible of me, but I want to be able to hang something up!

8. I’m also going to see “Divergent.” I read the book in January and still haven’t read the others!

9. I ran out of Flapjacked pancake mix but scored a deal on my favorite frozen waffles: Nature’s Path hemp plus waffles!

10. I eat breakfast in the car. Every single day. I also started adding other necessities like Band Aids and lotion. I got this sample through PINCH me for free and I’m obsessed with the smell!

Have you done a paint and wine event?
