Five Things Friday: Healthy-ish 4-day Weekend

5 healthy-ish things I did

1. The holidays are a coming. The Pave Group hosted a speaker, Lorie Eber, to help us maintain our waistlines and keep sane. My goal is intended to make exercise fun and stress-free.¬†On Thursday, I’m going to Zumba with a friend.

2. One topic at the discussion was holiday eating. My take on it: striving for balance. I may get froyo because Yogurtland came out with their cookie butter flavor yesterday, but I usually get less than half the smallest cup or about 4-5 ounces and I hardly get toppings.

3. I haven’t had a New Year’s Resolution in several years. Healthy living happens all year long and Tara Stiles is a proponent of making your own rules. ūüôā I get to meet her on Saturday so I pre-ordered her book!

4. Go to a training, which would be a drag after work until 6:30 PM following a 4-day weekend. It was so much fun though because the speaker briefed us on Chinese history and let us analyze primary sources with a bunch of history teachers. I miss college and history!  I wish I was as chatty, curious, and confident in college!

This is so rad. It’s an animated version of a famous Song Dynasty scroll. Gah, I’m so behind!

5. Get in bed at 8:30-9 PM even though I didn’t sleep yet.

5 things I did on Veteran’s Day

1. I stayed in my pajamas all day.

2. I made a cup of lavender chocolate coffee and looked up recipes for Friendsgiving. Sweet potato something or a veggie dish?

3. Of course, I worked on lesson plans and case managing stuff.

4. Worked out for maybe 5 minutes then ate a bowl of homemade bone broth, meat, veggies, and Shirataki noodles. I try not to eat those but had one last bag.

5. I signed up for Jess Loves This Life’s Blogger Mix & Jingle.

WIAW/Thinking Out Loud Thursday Combo

Soooo… I uploaded these pictures and forgot to post them earlier today. I’ve been busy ya know.

It’s fall! I wish I got a chance to breathe and celebrate it properly because it’s my favorite season.

I haven’t done a whole lot of working out and my eats have been lackluster – I made some chicken pho with soybean noodles and have stuck to eating that for 3 days.

Otherwise, it’s Kodiak Cakes.

Sometimes I treat myself. I finally got a meal at The Healthy Junk, which ended up being lunch the next day. So good!

On weekends, I splurge a bit. Pizza from Whole Foods happened twice and then I had some ice cream and bought myself a slice of my favorite cake to nibble at over the week.

Has my waistline expanded? Nope.

All that working and moving around with less food during the workday is keeping me in shape. My friend/elementary teacher says she never has time to eat – she only eats breakfast and dinner.

Of course, Carly wrote this fantastic post called “This Body” and all the awesome things our bodies can do.

When I first lost weight, it was because I was engrossed in my job (as a high school tutor). Teaching is more important and some days, that means I miss working out because I’m at work for 12 hours and then I come home to do more work. Not always though. Today, I just took a 2 hour nap.

*Also, can’t wait for Tara Stiles’ book, Make Your Own Rules Diet.

The only problem with being all-in when it comes to work/school: My social life gets put on hold and I may or may not disappear from the scene. This doesn’t bode well for any relationships… and I’ll admit, sometimes I get a little lonely.

…and I want to travel.

WIAW + Seven Wants

I have to say, my wants in life are small.

To feel hot

My friend SnapChatted a picture of them about to get in the shower so I did too.

I haven’t worn this skirt in 2+ years but dug it out.

To eat good food

Grilled onions, which I wanted to consume all of immediately

Banana pancakes! #breakfastfordinner all day everyday

Okay, but real talk, here are more specific wants

1. A full-time job I should probably actually apply for something though… I kind of stopped applying a month ago! Eek.

This is temporary, but I definitely gutted this classroom.

Um, how the…

Still, I’ve started to decorate with some items I had leftover. These will be attached to the shelves.

*I also bought like $50 worth of fabric for my bulletin boards.

2. A trip to North Carolina I almost got to go except for this job (see above).

3. To live for awhile in Colorado So many cool people live there like My Trainer Paige, Lauren, and Maddy… and Evan!

4. [Romantic] Love I guess that’s not a small wish, but I want to know what the hype is all about. At 27, I’ve never been in love.

5. A relationship Along those lines, I’ve never ever been in a real relationship. My co-worker mentioned the shift in our generation – we all co-mingle and there’s no need to be in a relationship. My social life is pretty good so I guess this may be true.

6. Unlimited yoga forever I’m obsessed.

I slept in and couldn’t make it to yoga till evening. I wanted to try out a new-to-me instructor who is also the owner of the studio.

I came out with hair like this:

I’ve gone to quite a few yoga studios.

The Yoga Mat isn’t exclusively heated. Sometimes their classes are heated to 80 degrees, but normally, you build your own heat. I’ve never studied yoga – I just know there are different schools on heat.

More so I love the vibe, the decor, and the semi-hippie instructors. They remind me of living in the mountains years ago.

Inversions aren’t happenin’ right now until my wrist improves, but I have a new pose to work on:

7. A dreamcatcher You know, to help me catch the aforementioned dreams.
