Treat Yourself Tuesday: My Fall Mantel (Finally)

1. Ice cream from one of my favorites, Andrew’s Ice Cream. It was opened by a grandfather who wanted local ice cream for his grandson.

Half Horchata and half salted caramel apple with real apples!

2. Jonathan Adler-esque ceramic elephant. Every time I think of white animal objects, I think of John & Sherry of Young House Love.

3. Spaghetti squash. I picked one up while getting some decorative pumpkins.

With some spaghetti sauce.

4. Final product for now.

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset I’m considering if I should add a banner that says Fall and if I should paint the pumpkin.

5. Not so much a treat, but hey, I’m going to get better at drawing this year or at least better at copying pictures from the internet.

MIMM: How did I get senioritis?

Guys, I have senioritis. This is appropriate too because I’m over my own classes…

So this is what I’ve been doing to make it MARVELOUS.

After not painting my nails for months…

Perfect weather for some green juices.

…and sushi (or a Samurai Burrito).

Fundraising gala with teachers… I thought this was appropriate after wine and 2 Moscow Mules at the hotel bar, Fireside.

In the morning, I headed to Venice Beach.

Muscle Beach

Abbot Kinney, which is one of the coolest streets ever. Lots of shops not as many bars or restaurants though.

We had to head home though, but I stopped by for some pizza.

Ice cream with my cousin

I tried this brand at the Natural Products Expo with some kombucha. I immediately grabbed a bottle to mix with lime-flavored sparkling water when I saw it at the store. Austin, Texas is so hip.

Because summer is here, I’m planning a Cinco de Mayo housewarming party.

Baron is home! We finally picked him up from my aunt’s house.

Now I can use the hashtag #dogsofinstagram

Sunday was spent decorating:

String lights are so hard to find when it’s not winter.

Funky flamingo and cactus from Party City and $1.50 paper lanterns from Daiso.

I also picked up some paper tissue flowers. I only made one but finally made use of my empty Cheerwine bottle and washi tape (from Target).

A Cinco de Mayo party wouldn’t be complete without a colorful banner. This Bud Light umbrella also appeared at the house (from my uncle) and a folding table “for parties (thanks mom!).”

IMG_4894I considered buying this but wasn’t sure if it would be culturally appropriate.

IMG_4895I’m already looking forward to my nap today… 🙂

Do you have senioritis or spring fever?

Thinking Out Loud Thursday: Painting

Hey… it’s still Thursday. 🙂

Sorry for the lack of pictures, but I haven’t had much to snap. Here is what my life has consisted of…

1. Waking up at 5:30. Working out or pressing snooze depending on how my body feels.

2. A lot less working out, but I’m feeling fine physically. Actually, better than fine. My workouts run between 30-45 minutes if at all. A lot of my “working out” involves moving flooring, boxes, and painting.

3. Not thinking about eating. I just eat when I get hungry and boy do I get hungry.

4. Standing and talking all day. I taught writing skills, having the students argue for vegetarianism, using 3 articles I gave them. More focused than letting them go out on their own.

5. Spending 2 hours at The Home Depot. Instead of the “distressed brown hickory” laminate, I decided on “Silverhill oak,” which is also distressed but almost HALF the price. It took Matt, the very cute employee, 30 minutes to search for it.

We also got paint – vanilla custard (see below). They forgot the primer on one gallon so there was that.

Nothing got done because I spent all that time after work there.

5. Ice cream soothes my distressed body. Enlightened is so much better than Yasso

6. The next day, I ended up painting the laundry area and the space for the fridge so those pieces of furniture can go in.

7. Speaking of painting, I may or may not be going to a paint and wine night with friends. I may not go because… I don’t like the painting we’re making… There are so many better ones out there! Okay, that’s terrible of me, but I want to be able to hang something up!

8. I’m also going to see “Divergent.” I read the book in January and still haven’t read the others!

9. I ran out of Flapjacked pancake mix but scored a deal on my favorite frozen waffles: Nature’s Path hemp plus waffles!

10. I eat breakfast in the car. Every single day. I also started adding other necessities like Band Aids and lotion. I got this sample through PINCH me for free and I’m obsessed with the smell!

Have you done a paint and wine event?
