A Very Simple Holiday Wish List [and quotes from the week]

The holidays are now in less than ONE week [for me]! The road to winter break is long and hard though, but these are some 5 fun quotes that kept me going:

1. Me to the kids: “If you don’t do this right, the test will tell you that your job prospect is a cardboard box with a trashcan view.”

2. “I’m sorry. You’re trying to help me and I’m being an asshole.” – one of the kids

3. “Don’t suffer alone.” – my department coordinator

4. “You’re always so positive.” – co-worker

5. “You seem to have it all together.” – co-worker

In response to the many holiday gift guides and wish lists floating around, I compiled a wish list. This was hard because I’m fortunate enough to have everything I need and want. To be honest, I probably will buy #1 and #2 and that’s it.

5 7 things on my wish list

1. A new but affordable blog design, maybe from 17th Avenue Designs.

2. Peppermint bark almond butter from local maker Chef Kate

3. Flamingo capri pants from Onzie, which I don’t need.

4. Orla Kiely [yoga] for Target

5. Klean Kanteen Vacuum Insulated water bottle

6. A ‘ride’ on the Pan Am flight experience although there is no way I’d pay that price!

7. Chromecast, which is a great deal and what I suggested my cousin put on his wish list.

#1 above is the only one I really want, partly because I was gifted (or bought) 5 material surprises this week

1. Odwalla smoothie from a co-worker

2. Reebok GEL-Fit Sana

3. BODYpeace book

4. A package from Mamma Chia came this week!

5. Moo business cards, which have been a long time coming. It took me 2 days to pick the design and color!

5 6 links to think about

1. 10 Struggles of Being Not Fat but Not Skinny Either – I seriously relate to 3 & 4. Let me tell you, I will never be a fashion blogger…

2. Exercise Less to Reduce Stress

3. 15 Ways to Be A Good Human Today – So important especially after my last post.

4. 9 Creative Projects to Become Your Best Self – Good for the new year!

5. Adults & Kids Answer What They Would Change About Themselves

6. Here’s What One-Size-Fits-All Actually Looks on All Body Types

What’s on your wish list?

Five Things Friday: Healthy-ish 4-day Weekend

5 healthy-ish things I did

1. The holidays are a coming. The Pave Group hosted a speaker, Lorie Eber, to help us maintain our waistlines and keep sane. My goal is intended to make exercise fun and stress-free. On Thursday, I’m going to Zumba with a friend.

2. One topic at the discussion was holiday eating. My take on it: striving for balance. I may get froyo because Yogurtland came out with their cookie butter flavor yesterday, but I usually get less than half the smallest cup or about 4-5 ounces and I hardly get toppings.

3. I haven’t had a New Year’s Resolution in several years. Healthy living happens all year long and Tara Stiles is a proponent of making your own rules. 🙂 I get to meet her on Saturday so I pre-ordered her book!

4. Go to a training, which would be a drag after work until 6:30 PM following a 4-day weekend. It was so much fun though because the speaker briefed us on Chinese history and let us analyze primary sources with a bunch of history teachers. I miss college and history!  I wish I was as chatty, curious, and confident in college!

This is so rad. It’s an animated version of a famous Song Dynasty scroll. Gah, I’m so behind!

5. Get in bed at 8:30-9 PM even though I didn’t sleep yet.

5 things I did on Veteran’s Day

1. I stayed in my pajamas all day.

2. I made a cup of lavender chocolate coffee and looked up recipes for Friendsgiving. Sweet potato something or a veggie dish?

3. Of course, I worked on lesson plans and case managing stuff.

4. Worked out for maybe 5 minutes then ate a bowl of homemade bone broth, meat, veggies, and Shirataki noodles. I try not to eat those but had one last bag.

5. I signed up for Jess Loves This Life’s Blogger Mix & Jingle.

Five Things Friday: Treats (iPad Air)

5 scenes from the week

I spent all day training, learning about behavior interventions and how to physically intervene too.

While I was away, my kids got to watch “Encino Man,” make a crest/shield, and visualize the American Revolution.

Because of work (boo!), I missed the Ocean Spray PACt fitness event with Fitnessista (and others)! I did spot the “water” at the store and got to try it.

I have mustered enough energy to do a 30 minute workout everyday. In the past, I would’ve freaked out at just 30 minutes, but now, it’s good enough, especially since stand/walk around all day and can hardly get in lunch.

Other than that, I attempted and completed filing all my students’ work.

…and here’s a cute picture of my dog for ya.

5 pretty exciting things

I finished my pumpkin!

My taste in music nowadays is… rainy?

I got a free song too. This is Pink’s new project and it’s good!

I have insurance now!

The big one: I spent my entire Thursday after work playing with my new toy, my iPad Air, which I totally deserved after the day I had…

Of course, I needed to procure a case for it. It’s still in the mail though.

5 things I’ve eaten this week

Guac and chips on Tuesday when I was too lazy to go to Taco Tuesday

Ultimate sandwich: Applegate Farms’ pepperoni and soy cheese between Kodiak Cakes.

More Applegate. I love deals.

Speaking of deals, I got $2 off food at Starbucks. Now I can’t get over this turkey bacon breakfast sandwich.

I finally found Luvo flatbread and used a coupon I’ve been holding onto. So good!

…and I have another one in the freezer. 🙂

5 things I’m looking forward to
