MIMM: Alive

I’m alive and I’ll be back and kicking blogging soon.

We finally got internet. I was supposed to have internet on Wednesday, but of course, it didn’t work out. It took the tech 2 HOURS to figure it out today.

Where did I leave off?

I painted the remaining 2 walls in the living room. The bathroom and hallway are still not painted, and I would like to touch up the doorways and window sills.

I organized the hallway closet with blankets, towels, extra toiletries, and sheets… boy were those tough.

I cleaned and lined the dresser and nightstand drawers.

I found a MARVELOUS shower curtain and some MARVELOUS painted mason jars for the counter from TJ Maxx.

FYI: I spotted the same mason jars, after I bought them for $3 each, on a design board for $23! No way would I pay that…

I even bought new shampoo.

After all the daily excitement, I slept early everyday – around 10 or 11 – and woke up at 5-5:30 to workout. I reserved a spot on the patio but found that I like the garage when it’s cold out.

A few NOT SO MARVELOUS things happened, but they all got fixed:

The garage door opener “broke” but my real estate agent came by and fixed it. It was easy too.

The plumbing got fixed too. I hadn’t showered in the house because the toilet clogged… and came up the tub.

What’s happened to you in the past week? Have you ever gone as long without posting? I haven’t except for that week or so on vacation in North Carolina!

MIMM: My house, not my house, and pizza

Friday after work was my home inspection and I got to take pictures of my MARVELOUS townhouse.

My mom came along, and we were starving so we had a mother-daughter date at MARVELOUS The Pizza Press near my new home.

We headed to Ikea for some ideas.

Living room: gray rug (from Ikea), gray sofa, and yellow accents.

Kitchen: pistachio green (like my KitchenAid mixer), light blue, and burnt orange.

We stopped by 3 TJ Maxx/HomeGoods stores too.

Bathroom: beige.

Saturday, we picked up a MARVELOUS dresser and nighstand that I saw off craigslist.

I woke up at 5:30 on Sunday to head up to L.A. to meet up my friend Andrew and go to the Hearst Castle.

3.5 hours of MARVELOUS scenery later…

MARVELOUS Hearst Castle

Lunch was a bag of fancy MARVELOUS beef jerky.

We stopped by MARVELOUS North Carolina-based The Fresh Market on the way home. They’re opening up one nearby!

Sunset on the way home

Finally, we got back to Culver City and ate a late dinner at MARVELOUS wildcraft sourdough pizza. Yes, more pizza.

It was a full day with lots of driving on little sleep, but it didn’t feel that long and was MARVELOUS.

Have you visited the Hearst Castle?

What’s the last road trip you’ve taken?

WIAW: Excitement & nervousness

I woke up at 3:15 and can’t make to go back to bed. It’s a mix of excitement and nervousness.

Let’s talk about the nervousness first: I’m supposed to proctor a test and they’re getting a sub for me, but I’m not “working” and therefore not getting paid?! I found this out when I kept getting calls to sub, which doesn’t happen because I’m already booked, and accidentally took a job… that I can’t cancel. So I have to be up early to go fix the situation.

The excitement: I’ve mentioned it to a friend or two, and I’m not good at containing myself. I have a home! It’s a 2 bedroom, 2 bath 1,000 square foot dingy, but it’s more than enough.

So here I am at 4:30 looking at shower curtains.

Okay, now onto WIAW:

Krave Jerky finally went on sale and I tried it! This was sweet, but the flavors weren’t really there. 😦

We’re talking about The Jungle in class. I mentioned Fast Food Nation. I read the book but don’t think I ever saw the movie. I snagged it for $3 at Big Lots, and we’ll watch it sometime during the unit.

Turkey + pork meatballs for lunch this week

Detour sent me two boxes of their Smart protein bars. I’ve been eating them for breakfast. 2 of them.

Each bar has 130 calories and 10 grams of protein. It’s chewy and delicious and filled me up!
Verdict: This has one of the best stats I’ve seen! I also love their Neapolitan bars.
It’s now almost 5:30, time to get up, buy some doughnuts (for the kids), and go to work. :/
A nap will definitely be needed at the end of this day.
